Ludgerhsall is a civil parish and town in the north east of Salisbury, Wiltshire. Ludgershall is home to over 4000 people.

Ludgershall was once a parliamentary borough that elected two MPs to the House of Commons from 1295 – 1832. The borough was abolished by the Great Reform Act and the small size of Ludgershall led to it becoming known as a Rotten Borough. Anyone who has seen the episode Dish and Dishonesty of the BBC‘s Blackadder the Third will remember the incapable Baldrick‘s election to the Rotten borough of Dunny-on-the-Wold with only one vote cast – a great example of why Rotten Boroughs had to go.

Today, Ludgershall is a modern town on the rise, with a number of flourish businesses and housing developing over the years. There are plans to build a new business park on the outskirts of town and Ludgershall features plenty of entertainment, shops, pubs and social clubs. The barracks located in the town are now home to 26 Engineer Regiment, Royal Engineers.
