There are numerous notable people who have inhabited Maidenhead over the years. The creator of Doctor Dolittle, Hugh Lofting, was born in Maidenhead. Broadcaster Michael Parkinson lived there for a number of years (as did another famous broadcaster – Richard Dimbleby) and the Spice Girls shared a house there for a year before their rise to fame.

Maidenhead is also home to Sir Nicholas Winton who rescued 669 Jewish children from Czechoslovakia before World War II, a statue was erected at Maidenhead Railway Station in his honour.
