Fleet is a town in Hampshire that is located 37 miles southwest of London. With a population of over 31,000, Fleet’s name is derived from the Norma French word La Flete, meaning a stream or shallow water – a reference to the relaxing site of Fleet Pond.

Actresses Juliet Aubrey and Raquel Cassidy were both born in Fleet in the later 1960s. Professional tennis player John Feaver was born in Fleet and musician and author Alan Clayson grew up there too. Fleet is notable too for indie pop bands, with 90s band the Clientele forming and growing up there, as well as the 80s group Jim Jiminee.

Fleet is the home of North Hants Golf Club, a course that for over 100 years has ranked among the top courses across England. World class golfer Justin Rose learned golf at the club, he ranked third best in the world in 2013 after finishing second to Tiger Woods.
