This week our team delivered and set up a 170″ (16:10) Fast Fold projector screen for a conference at Regency Park Hotel in Thatcham. As a regular AV partner for the venue, we know the rooms well, which helps us plan clean sightlines and quick turnarounds.
The Projector Screen Setup
- Screen size: 170″ diagonal, 12ft × 7.5ft (approx. 366 × 229 cm)
- Format: 16:10—ideal for modern laptops and presentation decks
- Rigging: Fast Fold frame
- Positioning: Planned to maximise audience visibility while keeping walkways clear
Depending on room layout and lighting, we can provide front or rear projection. For this event, the chosen configuration balanced image size, brightness, and presenter comfort.

How we spec the right screen & projector for your room
Every space at Regency Park is a little different, so we start with a quick site plan (or room dimensions) and match the kit to your agenda:
- Audience & room size: We size the image so the smallest text is readable from the back row, typically aiming for screen height ≈ 1/6 of the furthest viewer distance.
- Ceiling height & stage layout: Fast Fold frames with a dress kit tidy the look and hide cabling. We’ll set the trim height to clear heads without hitting lighting bars or chandeliers.
- Ambient light: For brighter rooms, we’ll pair the screen with a high-brightness laser projector and recommend blinds or strategic uplighting to protect contrast.
- Throw distance: Short-throw options help when the projector must be close to the screen; standard lenses work well when we have a clear projection path.
- Front vs rear projection: Rear keeps the beam off presenters and reduces shadows; front is ideal when space behind the set is tight.
- Content & connectivity: We carry HDMI/USB-C adaptors, backup laptops, and can add comfort monitors, countdown timers, or a recording/stream if needed.
