Providing clear sound and respectful video coverage for a funeral or memorial service is incredibly important, especially when space inside a church is limited. For this service at St Barnabas’ Church in Faccombe, we supplied a funeral audio relay setup that ensured guests both inside the church and outside in a marquee could hear every part of the service clearly. We also captured a discreet 4K funeral video recording for the family to share afterwards with those who could not attend in person

For this installation, we set up two speakers inside the church and two speakers outside in the marquee for overflow guests. This type of setup is often described as a funeral or memorial relay, and many people also search for it as repeater screens or an external relay system. In practice, it simply means extending the service beyond the main seating area so that everyone can remain included, hear the spoken word properly, and follow the tone of the occasion without crowding into the church.

A reliable church PA system was essential for this service. We used two wireless microphones, with one dedicated to the vicar and one positioned at the lectern for readings and speeches. That gave us clear, consistent speech coverage throughout the service, helping everyone hear prayers, tributes and readings both inside the church and in the outdoor overflow area.

To preserve the atmosphere of the service, our camera was positioned discreetly at the back of the church, keeping the equipment unobtrusive while still producing a high-quality 4K recording. For many families, this kind of funeral video recording is a valuable way to share the service afterwards with relatives and friends who were unable to travel or attend on the day. It also allows important moments to be revisited privately, in their own time.

Churches in rural locations often need a thoughtful approach to sound and video, particularly when services draw more people than the building can comfortably hold. St Barnabas’ Church in Faccombe, Hampshire, is a village church setting where a carefully planned relay solution can make a real difference, allowing extra guests to be accommodated outside without losing connection to the service itself.
