AV support for panel day at Larkhill Racecourse

Larkhill Racecourse might be best known for its point-to-point meetings, but it also works brilliantly as a space for corporate events and demo days. We recently supported a panel discussion there, supplying full conference equipment and an on-site sound engineer to keep everything running smoothly.

The racecourse is tucked right next to an MOD base and active training fields, which makes for a unique backdrop – and a slightly adventurous drive in. After taking a couple of wrong turns ourselves, we decided to put together a clear map for future clients so finding the venue is much easier next time.

Event brief

The client was running a panel discussion and demo day with:

• 4 panelists on stage

• Audience Q&A

• Space for impromptu speakers and presenters

They needed a reliable PA system and clear visuals so everyone in the room could see and hear what was going on, whether they were sat near the front or further back.

Equipment we provided

For this event at Larkhill Racecourse, AVE Services supplied:

• 75″ large screen for presentations and demo content

• 2 x RCF TT-515A loudspeakers for a compact but powerful PA system

• Behringer X32 digital mixing desk

• 6 x Sennheiser wireless microphones:

  • 4 lapel mics for the panel speakers

  • 2 handheld microphones for audience questions and any ad-hoc presenters

• Experienced AV sound engineer on site

This setup gave the panelists the freedom to talk naturally with hands-free lapel microphones, while the handheld wireless microphones made it easy for the audience to join in with questions.

Managing sound in a unique venue

Larkhill’s open, functional spaces and proximity to the MOD base meant careful sound management was essential. Our engineer used the Behringer X32 to balance the lapel and handheld mics, minimise feedback, and keep speech clear and consistent throughout the room.

The RCF TT-515A speakers provided focused coverage without overwhelming the space, which is ideal for spoken word and long panel sessions. Combined with the 75″ screen, attendees had a clear view of any slides, live demos, or supporting visuals.
